House Split · Last updated 15 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Bluefox Software, a sole proprietorship in British Columbia, Canada ("we", "us"), for your use of House Split on the web and in its apps. By creating an account or using House Split, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use House Split. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

What House Split is

House Split works out how a shared household's bills divide: who owes whom, from the people, bills, shares and payments you enter. It is a record and a calculator; it never moves, holds or requests money, and it is not financial, tax or legal advice. Its figures are arithmetic on what you enter, so check them before anyone pays. The calculator on the home page is free and needs no account.

A saved house is free for now. When we start charging for saved houses (CA$4.99 a month or CA$44.99 a year for each house), we will tell you by email first, and every saved house gets 30 days free from the day charging starts before it needs a subscription. If it then has none, it stays readable and nothing is deleted. The calculator stays free.

Using House Split

You agree not to:

Your content

What you put in House Split stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy and display it only as needed to run the service for you, for as long as it is in your account. You are responsible for it, and you confirm you have the right to put it there, including the names of the people you add to your house.

Assistants acting for you

You can let an AI assistant use House Split on your behalf. What it does with the access you give it is treated as done by you. You can see and revoke that access at any time in the app.

The service

We may change, add or remove features. We will try to give notice before a change that takes away something you rely on. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, or to protect other people or the service; where we can, we will tell you why first.

You can stop using House Split and delete your account at any time in the app: Account → Delete account.

No warranty

House Split is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and you should keep your own copy of anything important.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or business. Our total liability to you for any claim about House Split is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim, and CA$100. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have as a consumer that the law says cannot be limited.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of British Columbia decide any dispute about them, unless the law of the place where you live gives you the right to go to your local courts.

Changes to these terms

We will post any change here with a new date. If it matters to you, we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Using House Split after that means you accept the new terms.
